I fix them too quickly!
I had a doctor recently tell me the reason his patients don’t stay for more than a couple visits is because he “fixes them too quickly”. I’d like to respond to that and offer a solution and recommendation.
I disagree with the statement that he got them fixed too quickly, isn’t that the goal that we all have as doctors is to get our patients fixed? Don’t we all want healthy, vibrant, subluxation free patients? Don’t we all want to have a wellness-based practice, but full of people who are well?
I would respond that they may be feeling better quickly, which is wonderful and great, but are they actually “fixed”? Are you doing a proper consultation to identify the underlying health issues? Are you completing an examination that demonstrates how their body is and is not functioning? Are you using additional tools like scans and x-rays to see the blueprint of their body to find out how that subluxation has affected their life and health?
And are you recommending a care plan that actually corrects a subluxation and retrains the nervous system to operate at optimal capacity and function? Or are you simply maintaining their current state of health..which often is crappy?
I’m all about my patients feeling better. I’m all about my patients functioning better. And I believe that the two can go together and that my job as the chiropractor is to explain and recommend the care necessary to accomplish that.
I am not a symptom relief chiropractor, I am not a Band-Aid, I am not convenient and I am not cheap. And I believe that as a profession if we embrace those NOTs then we will see our practices grow with patients who want health and to fix the cause of their health issues, who want to grow their health year after year and raise their children in that model. We will fill our practices full of kids who get that health is not merely an absence of symptoms but instead about functioning and living at our best.
Think what that will do for the future generations and the future of our communities. We would raise an army of children and then adults who understand that true health is all about function. Wow…I am getting goose bumps just thinking about it. We have to work together to achieve this…we have to commit to telling the truth about health and function and chiropractic. The public is screaming for what we do…we just have to be willing to stand up, take responsibility and do it, commit to being the best and doing whatever it takes to be THE doctor your patients deserve….you’re on the right path, you’re doing it…so commit to speaking with more passion, more certainty and more truth.
If you need any help with this process then reach out, that is why I do this, it is why I coach…we need an army of principled chiropractors to change this world, and I am committed..are you?
When you’re ready to talk and take your practice to the next level (or start it with integrity and purpose and passion) then go online and fill out my Practice Health Mini Check Up and I’ll take it from there, let’s do this and let’s change the health of your community!
