Sanctity of the adjustment

Honoring the Sanctity of the Adjustment

So we just talked about your why…why you do what you do.  This week I want to dive into a topic I feel is just as, if not more important.  The adjustment.

Depending on the type of doctor you are, you either honor the adjustment or you don’t. I can’t say that any nicer. You either know that the adjustment is paramount to everything you do, or it is an ancillary service to help complete the visit.

When you recommend care, are you recommending adjustments or are you recommending a therapeutic or active course of care that may or may not include an adjustment? What is your value proposition? Do you believe the adjustment is worthy of value and an exchange of money or do you ‘bundle it’?

I am a chiropractor, I am an amazing chiropractor. I am proud of what I do and I make no apologies for adjusting the body to invigorate the nervous system. I don’t sell packages that may include an adjustment.  I lead with the adjustment, I finish with the adjustment. Everything I do centers around checking the nervous system and adjusting how, when and where is appropriate.

What a concept. I wonder if our profession would be more united if we centered our focus and our care around the adjustment. I wonder if our communities would ‘get what we do’ if we talked more about the importance of a fully functioning nervous system. I wonder if we would work better with the medical model if we focused on our strength, our core, our philosophy. I actually feel this is the solution. We focus on our strengths and we refer to others who can, and should do the same. Talk about synergy and integration, true integrative care…where we are all allowed and encouraged to be our best and to provide our highest level of care and service.

I am focusing on this message this week as next week I want to explore how to honor the adjustment in our practices. What can we all do to be better, to be more passionate, focused and aligned with innate to be an instrument of healing.

I know honoring the sanctity of the adjustment will change everything. We will speak differently, we will act differently, we will be purposeful, passionate and focused. We will be leaders in our communities for health, we will stand as comrades rather than competition, we will normalize chiropractic.

What a concept! Are you ready? Are you willing to do what it takes? Are you willing to work? Then let’s do it!
