Last week we talked about sales…but let’s tackle a more important subject…your power and how you are giving it away.
Let’s talk a couple scenarios first.
A new patient tells you they can’t follow your recommended schedule but they can come 1 or 2 times a week instead. You think “well some care on a regular basis is better than no care” and you do it, hoping they will “get it” anyway.
A patient always comes in 10 minutes late for their adjustment, you are frustrated by it but you have no choice but to “make it work”.
Another patient treats your office as a drop off daycare…the mindset “it takes a village to raise a child” comes to mind as everyone else has to keep an eye on those kids. Your team groans every time they are on the schedule.
Sound familiar? Are these just annoying issues we all have to deal with? Or, are these situations and how you handle them exactly THE ISSUE?
When did it become ok for the Monkeys to Run the Zoo?
Who’s office is this?
Who makes the rules?
When you allow a bad behavior to continue it means that you make an agreement to that behavior and that it becomes acceptable!
YOU AGREED by not doing anything about it.
You gave your power away.
You compromised what you stand for.
No wonder you groan every time you see that patient. You compromised your morals and are reminded of it every time they come. The patient didn’t screw up…YOU DID! Ouch!
How do you change this? You immediately take control of you and your life and your practice. Your practice is a reflection of you, you are the Zoo Keeper..so do the hard work to make it the way you want it.
If your patients aren’t willing to follow your rules, then your office is not the right place for them….(wait for it)…….let them go! You will be happier, your energy will go up and you will attract the right patients. Is this easy, NO, it shouldn’t be! But, it does get easier over time, and anything worth having shouldn’t be easy the first time!
So, get out there and take control of your practice, take control of your life, take control of your legacy and destiny. Have the practice of your dreams, have the life of your dreams, and know that I am here to support you along the way!
If you’re tired and frustrated with your current practice and are ready to change then let’s talk. Or, are you ready to take your practice to the next level?
